DESCRIPTION
Common Names: Chinese evergreen
Maximum Height: 0.6 m
One of the most popular houseplants, Aglaonemas are herbaceous perennials with upright growth habit, reaching a height and spread of about 0.6 m.
Aglaonemas are slow-growing and make excellent foliage plants with striking glossy leaves that comes in varieties of red, silver or green.
PLANT CARE
Light: Avoid placing in direct sun. Place the plant where it will receive moderate or filtered light, preferably near a well-lit window. The lighter the shade of the leaves, the more light an Aglaonema will need. Make sure to turn the pot frequently to ensure the plant receive light uniformly, to ensure that new growth is not lopsided.
Water: Water Aglaonemas thoroughly, but allow the soil to dry out between waterings. Droopy leaves indicate that the plant needs water and brown tips indicate that you are waiting too long between waterings. It doesn’t require high humidity, but will benefit from occasional misting.
Fertilizing: Apply liquid houseplant fertilizer once a month to best maintain healthy foliage.
*Note that due to its storing of air impurities in its foliage after absorbing them, Aglaonema is toxic and is not recommended for pet owners or those with toddlers. Ingestion will cause mouth and stomach irritation and possible vomiting.
