Cymbidiums have highly decorative flower spikes and can be more demanding than many orchids commonly grown as houseplants. Cymbidiums are well known in horticulture and many cultivars have already been developed.
Cymbidiums need lots of indirect sunlight and low temperatures. Place Cymbidiums in a bright spot, such as a near a window, away from direct sunlight. If it’s too warm the flowers may soon fade. Once the blooms have faded, trim away the flowered stem to the base. When watering, water from above, ensuring that excess water can drain away. Do not allow the plant to sit in water. Let the soil dry out slightly before watering. Cymbidiums placed outdoors may need more frequent watering in warmer temperatures.
