Resistograph is sophisticated and accurate instrument to detect extent of decay present in the trees. It is used for detection and measuring cracks, voids, cavities, and decay inside the wood. The small drilling needle of Resistograph extends as it penetrate the wood (up to 300mm) at constant speed, measuring the energy used to penetrate or the relative density distribution. Resistance will be reduced obviously when needle meet decay wood. Digital output can be downloaded to a PC via Bluetooth and easily can be exported into report. If an infected wound is observed on a trunk or a major branch, tree assessor should use resistograph to detect the extent of decay inside the tree.
