Definitely a first in Singapore, on 8 April 2011, Prince's Landscape & Construction Pte Ltd has inaugurated a half-day seminar on Planning and Management of Trees. Coming from a landscape contractor's point of view, attendees have gained a deeper understanding of Trees and Arboriculture Works.
A full-packed seminar which was attended by professionals from the Building and Construction Industry, Prince's has invited professional arborists to share and talk about Planning and Management of Trees. Guest speakers include, Simon Longman, Nparks Director of Streetscapes, and an internationally-renowned Australian master arborist, Daniel Oaten, the Tree Whisperer. Aside from the guest speakers, our very own Prince's lead arborist, Tin Zaw Aung, together with other in-house Prince's arborists have expressed their professional views on the topics.
Topics included Tree Preservation, The Role of an Arborist, Tree Transplanting, and the Introduction of the a new arboriculture capability which has not been used in Singapore ¨C the Fall Arrest System (FAS) that studies the behavioral pattern of branches and is able to minimize branches from falling from height. There is also a showcase of difficult but successful transplanting projects, which mainly emphasizes that all transplanting are possible.
This seminar hopes to entice all developers to change the norms in the Building and Construction Industry. Arborists should be part of the pre-tender consultant team, whereby they assist architects in their design around tree preservation, and eventually include tree preservation methods into the tender specifications.
Capped the day with a site expedition around HortPark premises on tree climbing and pruning demonstration, introduction and familiarization of the Tree Diagnostic Kit, and a showcase of the Tree Protection Zone (TPZ) and other processes relevant into protecting the trees.
